The farm is a working beef cattle grazing property of 251ha. It is bordered by 2 creeks and provides an interesting visual contrast of natural bushland and views. The creeks attract wonderful viewing opportunities for enthusiasts who enjoy bushwalking, birdwatching and natural areas of flora and fauna. In favourable seasons, platypus shyly feed in the Bunyip Waterhole at dusk and dawn. We endeavour to maintain this natural environment on the Bunyip Springs Farmstay property with responsible land care. Eco friendly practices and self sufficiency are desirable traits we work towards. The property is home to several dairy cows who provide milk and cream for our own household requirements. Free range poultry supply omelettes and roast chicken dinners! The green house and hot house host a variety of edible and flowering plants. Alpacas have been introduced as a hobby industry pet. These quirky animals are very suited to our climate and the natural grazing pastures of the Bunya Mountains foothills.
The Cottage and The Lodge are set in natural surrounds and ensure peace and privacy. Both these accommodation premises are within a handy distance of the main farm establishment so farmstay activities can be enjoyed. The Unit overlooks the farmyard scene and is ideal for passive or fully active participation in farmyard activities.
Bunyip Springs Farmstay first welcomed guests in April 2000 after the Cottage was lovingly restored to its original 1926 theme with mod cons added. Restoration of the 1910 Lodge was completed in readiness for Easter 2006. Recently, we have extended accommodation to include a 2 X bedroom self contained unit.
